Origin Story: I mentioned my search for a companion for Zulie to a girl in one of my classes who happened to be taking some vet courses. She told me that at the vet school, they were frequently trying to find homes for cats who had been used for experiments but were still healthy and suitable as pets. I knew that I needed to check this out.

Upon my arrival I was confronted with a room full of milling browntabbiness. One lone silver tabby served as a marker in the horde of rampaging, semi-socialized beasts. Naturally I was immediately drawn to said silver tabby, but I was bound and determined to get the smallest cat available, so as not to overwhelm Erzulie. That smallest cat turned out to be #42 (all 15 pounds of him!), and he also seemed a little bit friendly. He reached out to touch my finger with his snout and promptly gave/ received a static shock. Hence the name "The Big Electric Cat". At any rate, I soon stuffed him in a box and brought him home.

Caution: As with all our cats, Baxter is fully clawed, and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. If he is startled while sleeping on your lap (or in contact with any other part of your body) he will leave a trail of bloody gouges while making his escape.
